Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig has confirmed that former bandmate Rostam Batmanglij will be returning to Vampire Weekend for their new album.
Although Batmanglij officially announced he’d be leaving the band in 2016, the multi-insturmentalist will still appear on the band’s next album.
We haven’t got a release date yet but in an exciting twist, according to Koenig, the new album will be going in a Folk direction.
NME has quoted the lead singer as saying “I’ve always really had a thing for really simple forms of folk music, whether it’s like Irish ballads or old-school country. I just like simple songs.”
We can’t wait to hear what this is going to sound like and how awesome it’s going to be live!
